“Targeting Continuous Success!”

As people and organizations get better at working safely at work and home there is always the danger of complacency destroying performance. One of the best ways to avoid complacency is not to be satisfied with staying in one place. No matter how good you get there are always ways to improve. This can cause the feeling that the target is never achievable. Once you hit it, they move it higher. The reality is that just like your performance the target needs to improve also.

John will show the importance of continual improvement and the problems it solves. For example, one of the problems of achieving a great safety record is that some people think, “We have completed the task and now it’s finally safe here and there’s nothing left to do.”  This can lead to a “we’ve made it,” attitude which can allow for a false sense of security that they don’t have to be concerned with safety as much as before.  Employees may begin to think the workplace is now safe so they can let their guard down. Of course, the key is to remain vigilant and discover how to keep your, “safety edge”.
