Safety and Rebuilding
It has been a tough winter for many people around the country. A good safety topic to watch out for your people is “Safely Rebuilding”. My accountant will be rebuilding his deck that was damaged by record snows this winter. Flood damage from rising rivers creates a cleanup nightmare. All of these have one thing in common – people who are not trained craftspeople will be doing work they aren’t used to.
What to watch out for! First, wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, helmets, etc. Next, warm up your body before the physical exertion of demolishing damaged property and by all means, get some help. Team-lifting applies whether you are lifting a box or moving a fallen tree branch.
Think in terms of doing no further damage – first, to you and second, to your property. Taking the extra time to do the job safely can protect both.
As a safety speaker, I want you to be safe on and off the job so be careful as you rebuild and be able to enjoy the results of your labors.
