Safety Speaker John Drebinger Thanks You
Tomorrow, I fly to Hartford, Connecticut to speak to the people at Hallmark Cards. It is a reminder to me of the significance each of you has played in my life and my career. It was back in 90’s I took my business as a safety speaker national and Hallmark Cards was my first national safety meeting. Back then, I did awards banquets and my presentation for those was about 30 percent safety message and 70 percent magic.
Trusting Me As Your Safety Speaker
More and more of you saw me as a safety speaker at one safety meeting or another and brought me to your sites. Your trusting me with sharing a life-changing message with your people is very humbling and I value that trust very highly.
My full day course, Mastering Safety Communication, was developed especially for my friend Joseph Kaplan. He was President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Safety Council. That course created the need for the book of the same title, which as of now, has sold over 80,000 copies. I believe this is a record for a single title in the field of safety.
One of the best things about my job is helping others. I guess I have always loved the Boy Scout Law, “A Scout is Helpful.” It’s great to be in a career that allows you to earn a living and have an impact on people’s lives.
Another joy of being a safety speaker is all the tours I take and all the employees I meet. I know my audience members find my magic entertaining and I have to tell you, I find what the craftspeople of this world do just as magical. I have listened to an electrician’s stories and I have watched machinists create something right before my eyes. The creativity of all those people is awesome. I have been moved by the person who shares with me the pain they suffer because years before they chose not to watch out for the safety of someone. That is a pain I vow to stop by teaching as many people in this world how to watch out for the safety of others.
Now, I fly all over the world, “Watching Out For Everyone’s Safety™” and I love it. I have met great corporate leaders and employees who truly care about the safety of each and every person. Now, more often than not I am being hired by “C Suite” executives who want to support their safety teams with a world-class message.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve my fellow humans by helping them get home safely every day.
