Safety People Are A Special Breed
One of the fun parts of being an international safety speaker is the opportunity to travel and meet friends, fellow safety speakers, associates and you at safety conferences. This June safety professionals and team members gathered in Dallas for the annual American Society of Safety Engineers Professional Development Conference. What a great week! I love reconnecting with fellow safety leaders and share a moment of fellowship. It is also wonderful to see many of my clients. At the end of each of my presentations, I shared a few thoughts I also want to share with you.

I tell each audience in closing they are very special people. I also want you to realize how special you are. You give each working day of your life to help other people return home safely. Not one of us knows how many days we have left on this earth and you gave another day in service to others. Now you may say you are paid to do so but I don’t think that lessens your service. We are able to choose our careers and you have chosen a career that serves others. To me, that makes you one of a very special group of people.

On behalf of the children and families that have Mom or Dad arrive home safely each day, THANK YOU. Not only do you save lives but you protect the quality of people’s lives. Without each and every one of you safety on and off the job would not be what it is today. Be safe and keep up the great job.
