Safety Speakers – Seasonal Safety Tips

Posted by John Drebinger |

A few entries ago, I referred to a company that opened their meeting with a safety share that pointed out the need to refresh your skills as you enter a new season of riding your motorcycle. Good advice for any sport or activity in which people participate.

If you haven’t done something for a while, refresh your mind with what you know. As a safety speaker who performs magic, I have to do that every time I reintroduce a trick into my presentation. In order to customize or teach a particular point, I will use a trick from my repertoire and I practice it several times. Because it has been a while since I have done the trick, there is a possibility I might not be as good as I should be.

I know it is common to warn people of oncoming cold, ice and snow but sometimes we forget to remind them as spring approaches new hazards are out there. Also, when it comes to recreational activities, people are anxious to get back to their sport or activity and so might start before conditions are truly safe. Think in terms of motivation. The improved weather motivates them to go out and get back to activities they love. Safety Motivational Speakers know the key is to motivate them to the same level of action when it comes to safe behaviors.

I know I really wanted to bring my bike on my last trip, but I knew there was still some ice on the road and that could result in a bad fall.

Some questions you might want to ask as a motivational safety speaker to get the safety results you want year round.

  1. What if any changes occur with or around the tasks you perform, as the seasons change?
  2. Does weather in your area increase or decrease certain hazards?
  3. Does the time of year alter your recreational activity and do you need to warm up before taking on new tasks?

Be safe year-round and be aware of changing conditions.
