Asking People About Safety – Safety Speaker John Drebinger

Posted by John Drebinger |

Every day you walk through your work place you have an opportunity to learn and to help others focus on their safety. How about if today as you encounter people during your day asking them a simple question. It will give you some insights and it will also remind them of why safety is important to them. As you see someone greet them as you normally would and then ask them one of the following questions.

– Why do you want to work safely?

– Why is safety important to you?

– What is the most valuable safety tip or lesson you have ever learned?

– Has there ever been a time in your life where safety made a difference?

The list could go on. After you talk with someone take a moment after you leave and write down their answer. This will give you new material you can use when you talk to people about safety. It will also give you insights into what is important to the people you work with. As a safety speaker I have found these to be useful.
