Creativity Master – Farewell Robin Williams
Creativity Suffered A Loss This Week
Recently I have written about creativity and safety. One of the most creative people out there passed away today. It is always sad whenever anyone dies which is why safety is such an important calling. We are charged with getting every creative, loving, family member home every day. It is important to realize that suicide takes as many or more workers every year as do workplace injuries. Please do what it takes to learn suicide prevention techniques to help get everyone home safely every day and back to work the next. It is hard to imagine that someone with the humorous creativity of Robin Williams was so depressed that he could no longer go on living.
Safety Speaker – Creativity Mentors
One of Robin Williams mentors was Jonathan Winters a comedian I grew up watching and listening to. I know much of my sense of humor came from listening to the comedy albums I would spend hours listening to. Jonathan Winters used creativity to develop many characters throughout his amazing career. Ironically Winters also dealt with mental health issues which many people are not aware of. I can assure you that listening to Winters’ albums as a young man growing up taught me creativity. He also gave me the skills to be an effective safety speaker. When people laugh they enjoy a meeting and your safety message is much more likely to be effective.
My prayers go out to Robin’s family. While we will all miss him their lives will never be the same.
Thank you Robin for all the laughs as well as the thoughtful moments you gave me in your comedy and your movies. Also thank you for entertaining our troops overseas.
