Working Safely – Overcoming Complacency by Safety Speaker Drebinger
One of the best ways to overcome or prevent complacency is to be committed to continuous improvement. It is critical to remember that a safe performance record is not something achieved and then you relax.
The reality is that you can go for a record number of days or years without an injury and in a heartbeat that can all be gone with a serious injury. I even contend that the safer a site becomes the risk of complacency increases. It is possible for your employees to unconsciously think it is safe where they work. While you and your leadership do whatever you can to keep people safe it is a cooperative effort of everyone to make sure people go home safe every day. Leaders need to be committed to safety and live it as a value. Everyone needs to take personal responsibility for their own safety. In addition it is important for people to watch out for the safety of others.
If you want to hear one of the best presentations I have developed over the past 21 years call Diane Weiss at 209-745-9419 to schedule my presentation, “Would You Watch Out For My Safety” and be sure to buy a copy of the accompanying book for each and every employee to take the message home.
