Prayer and Safety by Safety Motivational Speaker John Drebinger
As I flew out of Philadelphia, I looked out the airplane window and saw the lights of the refinery. I was reminded of how I often pray for the safety of those people who have been in my audiences over the years. There are times when a specific site or city comes to mind and I think of the people I met while I was there. I then ask God’s protection for them and their families and I give thanks for allowing me the opportunity to help them get home safely every day. As a safety motivational speaker I take seriously my outcome.
It seems to me that we as safety professionals are the stewards of the safety and lives of the people with who we have the privilege of working. Every day, I strive to be the best steward or shepherd I can be. I look to improve my communication skills so that I can have the greatest impact. Sharing safety is a sacred trust and opportunity.
When I have written on prayer and safety in the past, many safety professionals emailed me to let me know they actually have a prayer list of the names of the employees for whom they are responsible. They pray about them every day. I thought that was a very powerful concept.
I also pray for the readers of my email newsletter, my books, or this blog. May each of you be strengthened every day to reach one more person with the message and commitment to safety. I would always appreciate your prayers as a safety speaker traveling around the world spreading the message of safety.
