Train Ride For Safety
As I write this I am riding Amtrak south through the Central Valley of California. In a couple of hours I will arrive in Bakersfield and meet my son John who is driving home to spend some time with his friends this weekend. The reason for my trip is two fold. The first relates to safety. I know he has a short weekend and is driving the 7 hour drive home after work today. The likely hood is that he will be tired so this way I can join him for the last five hours of his drive and give him a break driving. As a safety speaker I have heard all to often the results of driving in a fatigued state. The second reason is that I will get five uninterrupted hours of time to visit with him. The two together are a winning combination.
