What If Technology Fails? by Safety Speaker John Drebinger
In my last blog I talked about planning ahead for emergency situations. In writing that article I realized how much we depend on technology these days. The danger is when we take something for granted. Then when it is gone we are hopeless without it. As a safety speaker my iPhone is vital to my daily activities. It has all my information on it that I need to find my flights, hotel, rental car etc.
Ask your employees what they would do in certain situations if their smartphones or tablets failed them. You can come up with scenarios that fit situations you know they might face. As for me I always carry hard copies of any necessary travel documents. (My iPhone and iPad have photos of all the same documents as a backup if the paper copies are lost.)
How would you make an emergency call at home if there were no cellular service? Could you find a pay phone? As I wrote this I thought to myself I can’t think where the nearest pay phone is to my house.
Something to think about as we all rely on air conditioning to get us through the heat!
Be Safe,
